Newsletter Vol.7

Welcome to the third issue of the 2023 newsletters by ALAN. We aim to bring you updates from across the acute leukemia community, whilst keeping you informed on our work and projects.

20th September is World ALL Day !  

On September 20, 2023, the patient and caregiver community will unite to mark the second World ALL Day. We will campaign, together with our members and community, to increase understanding of ALL and bring attention to the resources available.

Spotlight on (some of) our members  

• On 4th August, Henzo Kenya hold their first webinar (CPD accredited) on acute leukemia which was attended by 1200  participants and on 4th September Henzo Kenya spent the day with a visit to Kenyatta National Hospital where they talked to 35 acute leukemia patients. They shared a small gift (a personal digital thermometer for them to monitor their temperature, which is key in their daily care due to infections). All together they also shared a WLD cake. • We now have one of our leukemia infographic available in czech language. Find it here. It has been shared on social media for World Leukemia Day. See here

• On 4th September, AMAL organized awareness raising campaigns and various activities for residents of the Dar Al Amal residential home in Marrakech, managed by the AMAL association. See more here.

• ALAN support Prof. Philippe Rousselot, acute leukemia expert, in his new challenge. More information here.

• Another webinar “Insights into caregiving: physical, social and emotional challenges for caregivers” will take place on 21st November. More information and registration here.

• ALAN will be attending ASH congress in December. If you’d like to meet with us, let Samantha know.

ALAN recognises the importance of collaborative working with all stakeholders working in the field of acute leukemia. Collaborative working and financial support are essential to ensure that we can continue to carry out our work.

It enables us to obtain information, achieve common goals and provide support that would not otherwise be possible. But we recognise the need for such partnerships to be transparent in order to ensure we retain our independence.

As such, we are committed to being transparent about the funding we receive from our supporters.
