CML Horizons Virtual Conference 2020

The 18th edition of the CML Horizons Conference started yesterday 6th November as a virtual event with a record of participants: almost 400 attendees from 87 countries to this annual meeting of the global CML patient advocacy community.
During the Advocacy #1 session, it gathered over 200 participants from all regions, making it the largest CML Horizons conference ever.

The Opening was held by our co-chairs Sarunas Narbutas and Felice Bombaci, followed by José Castro, regional representative of the Latin American region and the CML Advocates Network Executive Director, Denis Costello.
 

The Medical #1: Past, Present & Future session offered attendees four exciting presentations run by these key CML experts: Dr. Raanani, Dr. Druker, Dr. Cortés and finally, Dr. Lipton focused on topics as what CML looked like 25 years ago,  perspectives on the development and new generation of TKIs, and transplants options.

At Advocacy #1 session, five CML patient advocacy leaders from the different regions were presenting inspiring activities developed in their own countries during the current COVID-19 outbreak.

• Andrian Rakhmatsyah talked about how has COVID-19 affected patient support.
• Giora Sharf shared his experiences on patient organisations adapting activates to COVID-19 reality.
• Eunice Orekha focused on access during the #COVID-19 pandemic.
• Jelena Čugurović shared the information about the CML Advocates Network regional project developed in 2020, "CML Atlas- novel way of gathering data from the region".
• Mercedes Arteaga presented "Venezuela access to Bosulif".

The training day finished with an informal meeting joined by a large number of patient advocates to meet colleagues, friends and share greetings.
