Dear members and friends of MPN Advocates Network,   A very interesting medical session on Novel Therapies in MPNs kicked off the second day of the 7th MPN Horizons meeting. A presentation on Past and Future MPN Treatment was delivered by Naveen Pemmaraju. After this, Ruben Mesa presented a lecture on New Medications, describing the different types of inhibitors and their mechanisms of action. Gabriela Hobbs concluded the session with an overview of Updated guidelines for MPN. Following morning session, advocacy session 3 focused on challenges with living with a chronic diseases. Guy Tavori had a very interactive lecture pointing out the psychological issues, while Françoise Meunier spoke about “The right to be forgotten”, last but not least an excellent introduction to the MPN AN survey was given by Jon Mathias. We began the afternoon sessions with an advocacy session focusing on how patient organizations collaborate with pharmaceutical companies. During this session, we heard the pharma perspective from Avi Matan – Abbvie’s CEO, Liat Mednik – Abbvie’s compliance officer, and Werner Znikand sharing his experience as a patient advocate collaborating with pharma companies. The second day wrapped up with a medical session on Effective complimentary therapies for MPNs. The first lecture was given by Gabriela Hobbs who highlighted Inflammation in MPN, followed by Nathalie Cook sharing some wonderful key points on Nutrition & MPN. Ruben Mesa pointed out which are the non medical treatments of MPN and what can these treatments do.
